Despite being a CompSci graduate, I am a Newbie to Python, and must say that I found the documentation for setting up RasPiConnect (App and Server) extremely confusing, and not at all helpful. You made assumptions that weren't necessarily true. e.g. easy_install does not come as standard with Python, and it took a lot of digging to find where to get it! (other Newbies please note)
Furthermore, if Web.py is essential, why was it not packaged with rest of the software, along with the other libraries needed, as mentioned by IronDiver? It is only thanks to his comments that I got past the error messages!
That aside, I have two questions:
1. When I start RasPiConnectServer, using 'sudo python RasPiConnectServer.py', I get no error message now, but the only response I get is for the RaspberryPi screen to display 'http://0.0.0.0:9600/'. Is this correct?, if so, why is it showing this IP address, and not the one I set up in Config.py? (192.168.1.89)
2. When I entered 'http://192.168.1.89:9600/version' - I get the response 'None' on my PC's Browser, and RaspberryPi screen displays:
'192.168.1.87:60362 - - [13/Jul/2013 11:28:03] "HTTP/1.1 GET /version" - 405 Method Not Allowed!' - so App and Server must be communicating to generate this message!
Again documentation doesn't say what to do if one gets an incorrect response like 'None'
Your help would be appreciated.
Mike
PS Spotted I had entered 'version' instead of 'Version', my typo. So ignore 2nd part of question, as I am now getting correct response!

Mike,
Thanks for your comments. We are looking at the easy_install issue (we will bring up a brand new Pi and distribution to test) and will improve the documentation around this point.
We answered the first question elsewhere on the site. It's a quirk of web.py
The second question has been fixed too. We now respond to version and Version.

I too would be interested in seeing a more user friendly install routine as I still have the same problem with web.py and easy_install seems not to be installed either, despite being an up to date version of Raspbian.

Folks,
We think we have fixed the documentation for the installation (specifically easy_install problems) now on the Wiki. No question about it, some installations would fail.
The easiest way to install easy_install is to execute this command:
sudo apt-get install python-setuptools
Best regards,
BP

Dietmar,
Make sure you have followed the documentation, and then if still isn't running post the results. We will figure it out with you!
