My wife just came in from outside and was wanting to know if there was a some way of tracking the amount of sun that an area in the yard actually gets?
It would have to be a solar set up.
Maybe I don't quite understand all of the sun products and there is a simple set up.

What is and how big is the battery pack on the bottom of the IoT Sunlight Sensor. This will probably fit the bill.
Thanks

We are just using 10200mA battery called "Power Bank". It's one of those many usb power banks available on Amazon. I honestly don't remember where i bought it!

Outstanding! Be sure to post some pictures and results! BP When got it up and running on either the SunIOT and the SunIOT_InitialState. The SunIOT_InitialState.py had some errors in it which I figured out, nothing major, missing a comma and an"i". A quick up load of some of the data coming in from the sensor. I need to get the whole device outside and figure out how I'm going to power it. I fried a micro SD card yesterday to point it was extremely hot to touch. Started all over at the beginning of the blog. This is as far as the 3rd blog in the series. Onto MQTT next. Node-RED will be on the list as well. Stay tuned, Attachments:

And you are getting some UV readings. We have a problem with UV on SmartPlantPi and are going to be looking at it next week.

Can the lightning board be attached to the board used by the light sensor at the same time?

PowderJockey,
Yes, the I2C lightning board is at 0x03. However, the MOD1016-G is sensitive to I2C loading (which is why we are redoing that board in the next month) and so when you connect both the sunlight and lightning board, make sure you run "sudo i2cdetect -y 1" and that you see both boards.

Any instructions in getting the Sun-IOT working with Node-RED? I've played with it and can seem to figure it out.

PowederJockey,
We haven't done that. Might make a good article though. I'll pass that to John.
