Hi,
Can you specify the type of JST connector used on the SunControl J5/J6? It looks like it could be either a PH or PA series.
Also, We have some 1W solar cells that have a OCV of 8.0 and a max power voltage of 6.7V.. We are considering using a Zener and a current limit resistor to limit the voltage to 6.3V. Does this sound OK, or should I pick a lower voltage zener for more margin?

Hi Dale,
1) JST2PH
2) 6.3V should work just fine for the over voltage protection. Not sure what you mean by the "max power voltage" of 6.7V.

Thanks for the clarification on JST-PH.
My reference to max power voltage represents the voltage at which the PV cell will deliver its maximum rated current of 165mA. 6.7V * 165mA = 1.11W
