I've assembly 2 station and connected to my wifi network . The first was unsoldered WIFI board , so i've repair it and now works The second one appears running . Both Station appears running correctly but after a variable time hang . In particular when i to read data frm your web pages the ip becames unreachable. Both board appear affected frm same problem. The problem became only when i query the station by the page www.switchdoc.com/OurWeatherPage.html. If i query the station direct by ip ex. 192.168.134.140/FullDataString the station on network.

Agreed. Remember that some browsers have issues with add-in features. Especially Ad blockers.

The problem i have now is that it's solar powered, restarting the unit requires climbing up a ladder and unscrewing a faceplate. If there was a REST interface or similar that allowed it to be rebooted would be ideal.

The problem is that the browser locks up the REST interface, which makes using a REST command to reboot difficult!
A solution to this would be 1) Figure out why your browser is locking (lots of discussion in the forums on this) OR 2) Add a watchdog timer that would reboot the system if you lose connection on the REST interface. It would take a bit of software work to figure out how to make that work effectively (when is the REST interface locked up and does it lock up the rest of the computer). Fun problem!
Best,

Far from an expert but thought i would share my experience. I had the same issues. (station would hang when called through the web page www.switchdoc.com/OurWeatherPage.html) using all types of browsers (explorer / chrome / Edge etc...). unsure if this is relevant to you however i found that improving my wifi connectivity to the station significantly reduced this issue. Originally my station was about 15m away from my wifi router. i installed a booster mid way which seemed to improve the issue. also if you are only after the data string and using linux. i found using the 'wget' on the command line works every time.

Hmm. Maybe you had a different issue (entirely possible) with the same symptoms
BTW, without the booster, did 'wget' work every time?

I would say, from the above evidence, that the ESP8266 sometimes has a problem recovering from a weak WiFi signal. That would fit the evidence. We have not noticed this, but we probably have a stronger signal or a different router, etc., etc.
