Today, my wife said the hanging baskets didn't look very good. She checked the sprinkler controller and found out the systems has been basically shut down until next Tuesday. Knowing the sprinkler system is tied to my weather station, I found I was somehow accummulating a large amount of rain per hour. Right now I'm at 106 mm/hr, that's 4.17 in/hr. At these rains, the house will float, never mind needing an ark.
What could be triggering these high number, especially when it is not raining and has not for the last 10 days or more?
Hmmm. So the rain just constantly increases (like it was connected to the Anemometer). Could it be a lose connection (stretched wire?)? You might try swapping the RJ11 cables at both ends to test that theory.
Or use a different cable. Also, check your wiring inside your box. You may have reversed the wires inside.

I've got the rain cable disconnected, restarted the system and I'm still getting outrageous readings.
I'll check the wiring inside the box.
I rechecked the wiring they are all where they should be.
I disconnected the short wire inside the box (from PiWeather board to the adapter to the outside of the box) so there is nothing connected to the PiWeather board on the rain side of things and the readings continue.
I still think that something is misfired inside the box.
Would you take a picture that shows me the wiring and post it here?
Tape down the anemometer and see if your rain quits going up.
OK, I'll grab some photos of the inside of the box and tie the spinner down.
Attached is a snippet from Wunderground from Aug 5. The left side of the image was a re-boot of the system. There is nothing attached to the rain side of the PiWeather board, Nothing.
You will see a 523 KM gust at the top of the image. I remember looking at the spinner during supper and thinking, I've never seen it spin that fast. I checked Wunderground and checked the gust and was very surprised. Perhaps it is not accurate either? But it was spinning!

OK, figured out why my temperature had changed to show zero Celsius. In another thread about the SHT30 showing an error at start up. You advised that was it was not finding the the SHT30 and it should be SHT30GSPIN = 6 defined in your config.py file. So I added it to the conflocal.py file. The AM2315 was on pin 6 at the time and I commented that line out after adding the SHT30GPIN = 6. Hence, no outside temperature.
Changed it back and the temperature is fine now.
However, the tie down has produced nothing on either the wind, as it should, nor under rain.
