Hi,
I recently found out a Zener diode is a must, as I burned my Sun Control board. Thankfully I received a replacement board by SwitchDoc, but I was advised to install a Zener diode 5,6V 10W. Now that I have received both the replacement board as well as the Zener, I'm trying to figure out how to install it...
In the description I see: "Connect the "+" end of the diode to the "+" side of the solar panel (or the line from the solar panel to the SunControl Board) and the "-" side to the negative ("-") side of the panel" However I'm unsure how to wire it. Is it supposed to go on the place of the the JP9 & JP18 - however these are meant for the Solar Capacitators, so I wonder whether this is the right approach... Since I'm using a Voltaic board (9W) with a conversion to JST-plug, I don't see how to solder it over that.
Can someone give me some pointers or post a picture of how you did it?
Thanks!

yes, you can use the "solar capacitor" connectors. Please note that plus and minus are reversed on a Zener diode. The line/black part needs to go to the plus connector, the triangle/ non-black part to the minus connector.
You may also want to consider screwing the Zener into a heatsink - I have an example of that in this forum.

I bought this Zener from SwitchDoc (https://shop.switchdoc.com/collections/solar/products/10w-5-6v-zener-diode), looking at the second picture, the + and - are clearly shown, so I solder the + to the solar capacitator + (JP9), and the - of the Zener to the - of the solar capacitator (= JP18), right? If someone could show a picture or a link to the heatsink solution, that’d be great!

Would someone publish a picture?
