Which is the appropriate driver on MacOS?
I found at www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm that there drivers for FT4222H, D2XX and VCP - which one is the correct one for this cable?
Also, once I have the driver how do I use it? (my guess is the Arduino IDE? - other alternatives?)

You can just use a terminal application if you want (it looks like a serial port), but using the Arduino IDE is how I generally use it.

As far as the drivers go, I think the D2XX one is the correct one. The FT4222H should work (backwardly compatible).
