I have been noting a significant variation in the wind speed readouts. The wind speed transmitted to skyweather and weatherunderground always appear lower then the actual wind speed, but the wind speed on the skycamera text always reads higher then the wind speed data (But seems more accurate). I noticed in the util.py code this:
insert codedef returnWindSpeed(wind):
if (config.English_Metric == True):
# return Metric
return wind*3.6
else:
return wind*2.237 This code is called for the skycamera wind speed text, but the wind speed being uploaded to weatherunderground and skyweather, does not use this code, and the raw windspeed is just divided by 1.6.
Why is the wind speed being multiplied in this code, but divided in everything else?
Thanks, Greg

Greg,
I have been puzzling over the couple of questions we have had over the wind speed calculation and you may have just stumbled over the real problem.
I'm adding this as a bug (with this new information) and we will address it in the next revision of the software (which we are planning to start on towards the end of next week, so this is timely).

Awesome. I dove into the specks of the weatherrack, and then noticed what happened. The util.py code is called for Dash App and SkyWeather Cam, but not for the service updates. Instead of calling util.py, someone accidentally divided the wind speed by 1.6, which would convert KM/H to MPH, instead of multiplying by 2.237 to convert M/S to MPH. Should be an easy fix. I edited the weather underground code on my end with a quick fix. Obviously needs a more well rounded approach with calling util.py, but an easy number change for those impatient to wait for the next release.

Folks - Has this been fixed yet? I am seeing cases where the wind speed in the DB does not match what was shown on the dash app. Is this expected? Is there an additional conversion to the DB values?

Ha! Nope. We will do that in the next rollout.
