Every time the Pi reboots, the SDR receiver does NOT come back on line. I have to go out, open the SkyWeather and unplug and plug back in the USB. Not handy. Any clues on how to get the SDR to be recognized? I get this: Starting Wireless Read rtl_433 version -128-NOTFOUND branch master at 202101260938 inputs file rtl_tcp RTL-SDR Use -h for usage help and see triq.org/ for documentation. Trying conf file at "rtl_433.conf"... Trying conf file at "/root/.config/rtl_433/rtl_433.conf"... Trying conf file at "/usr/local/etc/rtl_433/rtl_433.conf"... Trying conf file at "/etc/rtl_433/rtl_433.conf"... quiet option (-q) is default and deprecated. See -v to increase verbosity Consider using "-M newmodel" to transition to new model keys. This will become the default someday. A table of changes and discussion is at github.com/merbanan/rtl_433/pull/986. And that is the failure, I take it?
Well, its either the Pi or the USB board. Do you have an extra Pi to try? If it still fails, then it is the USB dongle and we can replace that. It's got to be one or the other.
Is this our SD Card?

It eventually works. Also, now that it's up and running, even with the failure it uploads correct data to WeatherStem.....strange, huh? It is the SD image from the Kickstarter site - I'm a backer. Here's the WS feed... skyweather.weatherstem.com/racine

Also, when I run dash_app and the index.py, my dash shows NO weather information at all. It's all blank and the temp is at 32 degrees. It's been hours and it's still blank.

Could it be a database issue? I cannot access it. pi@SwitchDocLabs:~/SDL_Pi_SkyWeather2 $ sudo mysql ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) pi@SwitchDocLabs:~/SDL_Pi_SkyWeather2 $

Still not working. Data loads to WeatherStem. Testing the SDR gives me this: pi@SwitchDocLabs:~/SDR/rtl-sdr/build/src $ ./rtl_test Found 1 device(s): 0: Realtek, RTL2838UHIDIR, SN: 00000001
Using device 0: Generic RTL2832U OEM usb_claim_interface error -6 Failed to open rtlsdr device #0. pi@SwitchDocLabs:~/SDR/rtl-sdr/build/src $

Doing some quick research, that error is when a SDR is being used by something else at the same time. What directory am I supposed to use to test the SDR when using your SD card image provided? Thank you

It's interesting that the data is going to WeatherSTEM, but it's not all the data and it seems not quite correct....

What leads you to conclude the data being sent to WeatherSTEM is incomplete and incorrect?
Thanks,
Jason

It just rained here about .07" My Tempest Weather station reported correctly. The temp seems correct along with the pressure. The wind and rain seem off. There was an approx 20MPH gust during the storm. The WeatherSTEM shows nothing like that. My dash from SkyWeather2 is also blank. I have no idea where WeatherSTEM is getting the data. I'm pretty sure the SDR receiver is not working for the SkyWeather2. I can try to go disassemble it and unplug and replug the SDR, but it's mounted outside. I tested everything inside before I completed the build and moved it outside... The Pi also does not always reboot and reconnect correctly. That clears when I physically unplug power and plug it back in. I suspect something in the SD card is not loading correctly. As stated, it's the newest image of the SD card from SDL.

I just went out and did a physical pull and reinsert of the SDR. All is working now. I commented out the 5 day reboot line. Let's see how this goes. I'm still concerned that the SDR does not come back online after a reboot......

WeatherSTEM receives data from the background job that takes the SkyCamera photo. If the background job for that step is enabled, the script will send whatever data is available.
When you stopped the service and ran the script manually, was data getting picked up?
Thanks,
Jason

I wasn't getting anything from the SDR radio. At all.

Was it not getting any data or was it generating the usb_claim_interface error?
Thanks,

Generating the error. I believe the SDR radio is bad. I'd like to get a replacement. I am also ordering a new Pi4 today. This is beyond frustrating. The Pi would not respond to VNC this morning. I restarted by removing power. Then the SDR gave the error. I opened the case and physically unplugged and replugged the SDR. It was then working - I know because there was data coming in when I run the rtl_433 program. Then all of a sudden the SDR gave the error again. Now no data. I really need some help from SDL on this.
