Thanks for the suggestions, but....I've had no response, on any available (un-busy) ports, on either the Windows machine or the Mac.
Is the problem related to the fact that I see nothing out of the ordinary in the available serial ports on either machine? For example, I have nothing at all like cu.usbserial-{eight hex digits} you show in the screencap of your Mac above.
thanks ncjay

ncjay,
I don't have a good explanation for this. Could you try plugging directly into the Mini Pro Plus board?

Done, and no change in the list of serial ports available to the IDE, or their (lack of perceptible) behavior in the Serial Monitor.

But the power lights come on the MiniPro Plus and lights flash, right?
Could you have a bad USB to micro plug?

They do come on and the lights flash, yes.
I'm using the same cable I used numerous times to charge the battery, so I'd assume the plug is OK....?

NCJay,
Well, the data lines could be bad on the plug and you would still be able to charge. Do you have another to try? The board is pretty clearly working.

I tried a different cable, but there was no change in any of the available serial ports on either the Mac or the Windows machine.
Quite apart from the issue of getting a response into the IDE - if it's working, as you suspect, then I should be getting readings in testWeatherSensors.py. Is it possible that everything is working except the transmitter board? I've reseated it a couple of times, and with spreading the pins a bit for a better fit, but is there a way of easily testing it?
thanks ncjay

Ncjay,
PM me your address and I'll send you another Mini Pro Plus board. It sounds like this is the problem, but not clear.
I would like to test your board.
Make sure you tell me what unit this board is from so I can make sure the software is programmed correctly before it leaves the building.
Please return your Mini Pro Plus board to:
SwitchDoc Labs Attn: BP RMA# 110321-01 909 S Shelley Lake Lane Spokane Valley, WA 99037
