I had the same warnings about structures. My lightning works fine. I would assume that the warnings are not the problem. I know the lightning data is only sent every 12 minutes which doesn't help. If you turn the power off and then on you should see the transmit led flash within a few seconds. If this is happening the unit is at least trying to send data. The Led is on the bottom edge of the Arduino board near the header marked receiver and I believe it says xmt (sorry for the not exact description - mine is in use).

Looks perfect. Did you flex the pins to make a good connection?
Does the TX light flash when it is transmitting? Bottom middle of the board.

Great news, after removing the boards from the enclosure, disconnected everything. I flexed the pins even more on the transmitter and it resolved the issue. I guess I was too afraid to flex the pins too much, in this case, it wasn't enough.
I hope to get everything mounted this weekend.
