I have a solar AQI unit which has been running like a champ for a couple of months. Recently I started getting erratic readings out of the AQI sensor. The unit will pick up PM 10, 2.5, and 1 up in the 300 to 500 range, then when I reset the unit by shutting it off and turning it on the values come back down to normal ranges (AQI of 50-70 here is typical)
After last nights reset the AQI is back to normal but about 1 AM - 3AM it shows AQI off the charts up in the high 300s then back down to normal.
At first I thought a fire ant or a spider made home inside the unit to get readings that high. Any ideas on how to fix it.
Any ideas?

Turn it off and blow it out with compressed air. That is a new one to us! Getting an occasional high reading is not uncommon with even expensive units. That's why everybody makes use of the 24 hour average AQI.

And we are cured...I spent a couple minutes blowing the the device out and the numbers have been normal (within about 10 points of Airnow.gov) for several days
After a couple of months of goofing around I am going back to the once every 20 min update and also not use the power saving. I noted higher than normal readings on PM10 with the power saving on. My working theory is the unit is not clearing enough air across the sensor with the fan only powering up once every 20 min.

Now that is interesting. We power up for a 30 second warm up before reading the unit. Sounds like we should look at that again.
