Folks.
Has anyone tried using the Raspberry Pi High Quality HQ Camera - 12MP with the Telephoto or wide angle lens with their SkyWeather setup?
Looking for advice on how to get the best pics

Should work just fine. I know at least one person that has done that. The TimeLapses will be FABULOUS!

It seems my Sky Cam failed. Was working but now can't get it going, Sunny sensor error. Have read that the cameras can be sensitive to static, so I have ordered this replacement: E&O Raspberry Pi Camera Module 5MP 1080p Webcam OV5647 Sensor Adjustable Focus Len for Raspberry Pi Model A/B/B+, RPi 2B Pi 3 B+ and Pi 4B. I hope this one is okay!
This is the error I get on my test bed RPi3+: raspistill -o Desktop/demo.jpg Camera control callback cmd=0x4f525245mmal: No data received from sensor. Check all connections, including the Sunny one on the camera board

I have been using a 5MP cam w/ a telephoto lens using a 3' ribbon cable. It has looked GREAT!

I am trying to upload, but I am getting:
No Preview Unable to upload file SkyCamPi_1_2021-11-25-14-52-54.jpg. Error: No Reason Phrase
It is a single 256kb file, and it gets to the end of the progress bar where it hangs for 42 seconds, then fails to the above error message.

I'm still not done setting it up, so the indoor cam is still in a temporary location. This will at least give you an idea what the stills look like. The shot is mostly in focus, but I still need to spend some time getting the focus correct, once it's setup in its permanent location.
I am playing with several different cameras, all through the CSI connector on an RPi 4.
The 4 is the only RPi rev with the CSI-2 spec, so I don't think that you will have as much ease using other boards with higher-res cameras. I have, so far, been able to swap between 4 cameras with no software changes. The cameras are 4, 5 (telephoto/wide angle lens), and 13 MP. I don't know the fourth, but it's low res IR with a fisheye lens (a security camera originally, I think.). Once I have the rest dialed in and everything has been setup in their permanent locations, I will post a better pic and a link to a vid.

Excellent. Happy to see this.
Note: Do not upgrade to the latest version of the Raspberry Pi OS. It will break the camera. PiCamera has not been released.
