I tried the updated version when you posted it but I had the same error results.
I’m going to start fresh with new RPI and follow the install process and I will post the results soon. Hopefully today, but maybe Monday.
Thanks for your help and support.

Richard,
I am running this on Stretch with no errors. If you do get the errors, please post them, along with /etc/os-release and let's dig back in! After my work last week, this should be trivial.

Hi, I was able to get it working on Saturday. The culprit was trying to install Scipy. I follow the instructions in the Github link: github.com/switchdoclabs/SDL_Pi_DataLogger. Everything worked fine except: "sudo easy_install scipy" ## 2-3 hours I tried several times, however, after a bit of time, the install would consistently freeze. I found an alternate install which worked and now DataLogger works. Here is the link to the Scipy install that worked for me (Raspberry Pi 3B) www.scipy.org/install.htmlThanks, Richard

Richard,
Sometimes the Raspberry Pi 3 memory fills up and it then starts using VM which is much, much slower.
There is a way of making the Raspberry Pi only use 1 core during compilation, which fixes the problem too. I can't put my hand on the command, but I have faced similar problems in the past compiling the matplotlib libraries and other software supporting it.
