Hi
I have a SunControl Board and a Solar Panel 6 Volt 9 Watt connected. As a battery I am using a LiPo 3,7V 6600mAH.
I have connected a Raspberry to the USB output.
Even when the sun shines bright the current of the solar panel is never above 30mA.
I have tested the Panel without the SunControl Board directly connected to a Fan and it delivered 600mA.
Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem (other than that the SunControl Board is defect).
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards Heimo

One funny thing about solar power LiPo battery controllers (all of them) is that they are very careful charging the LiPo batteries to make sure they never overcharge them.
Therefore, if your battery is closed to being charged, the solar charger is going to limit the current to avoid damaging the battery.
You can try two things.
1) Discharge your battery (safely) - hooking up the SunControl USB port to a load (like a Raspberry Pi or Arduino) and letting SunControl take care of the discharging.
2) Put something with a load on the USB port and rerun your solar panel tests. I'll bet you see more current.
Best regards,
BP

Thank you for your reply. I tested today with a mobile phone as a load on the USB port, but it still does not load via solar panel. 1. At cloudy conditions Results: LIPO 3.29V / 1140 mA; Solarcell 4,61V / 26mA; USB output 4,91 V / 618 mA The mobile got charged via LIPO 3 hours later 2. At bright sunshine Results: LIPO 3,16V / 1133 mA; Solarcell 6,96 V / 33mA; USB output 5,02 V / 567 mA charge of the mobile via LIPO
Kind regards

Helmo,
That proves it in my mind. You have a bad SunControl board. Don't you just love the data collecting on the board? I do.
Please ship it back to us and we will repair or replace it.
Where and when did you buy the board?
Please send it to:
SwitchDoc Labs RMA#040218-01 909 S Shelley Lake Lane Spokane Valley, WA 99037
Make SURE you put the RMA on the package. It is how we track these things. Also add your shipping address inside the package.
Thank you! Best regards, BP
