For the past week, I've tried to move from V029 to V030 and now I see there is a version 31. The www.switchdoc.com/OurWeatherAdmin.html says there is an update, but when I try to update, it tells me there is no update. Any ideas? Scott

Can you take a picture of the message so I can see exactly what it says?
I think I know exactly what is going on.
I can't fix until I get back to the office tonight.
I think we didn't update the PHP downloading program. Bad BP. Bad, Bad, BP.

hm. I am having a similar problem with the update. I am using v26 and the admin page tells me there is an update. I enter my passwd and the little display acts like it is updating then tells me to power off and wait 15 seconds. When I do so the board still boots to v26!
I got my board during the kickstarter - is it too old?

The Kickstarter Board is not too old. It is backwardly compatible with the new board.
I'll do an autoupdate this afternoon to check it out and see if we have a systemic problem.

Hi,
Recently Purchased the complete weather kit. assembled it and boots nicely. I have two problems. 1) It will not update. It says that I have version V50 and V51 is available. I have rad threads that say "to far from router" so I moved it right next to the router. I still get a update failed message from OurWeatherAdmin. Can I down load the update and install it locally? 2) The system locks up when I move it out side. It is about the same distance from the router but there is a window and a wall. Do I need a Yagi Antenna? Should the antenna stub be mounted out side the enclosure:?

1) The update should work. We have tested it. But our internet connection might be better than yours The source code for V51 is available on: github.com/switchdoclabs/SDL_ESP32_OurWeatherBut it is a little tricky to get it to compile, but it is very doable. Select Adafruit Feather ESP32 as board type. 2) What do you mean the system locks up? Does the OLED shut down? Do you lose contact to it? Depends on the kind of wall. Concrete with Rebar makes a nice Faraday cage. Windows should make almost no difference. Is your enclosure metal? If so, definitely. Plastic, not so much. It will help no matter way. a Yagi would rock, but it should only be required for longer ranges. I wonder if your antenna is actually connected? Check the plug. BP

Thank you for the response. I am working on 1). Yes you probably have better internet speed than we do. We are on the "the grain silo net" here but still grateful to have it. Once I get into the code maybe a delay off set time can be added. We do that in DMR. 2) The system stops responding and it appears to happen after a failure to update. If I reset the system it starts responding. It has been running for 24 hrs. On the bench. Tomorrow I will move it outside again and see what happens. My goal is to gather weather, light and soil data. The hardware seem robust enough but needs to be adapted to my environment.

Hi BP, So after much experimentation and observation here are my current findings. I I installed the Blynk app which works well and has no connection problems with the network. However when I use the OurWeatherPage.html the system stops reporting; time does not change. I have used the advanced tools and cannot change the time. It seems to pick up your network time (Switchdoc.com/OurWeatherPage.html) which is two hours earlier than our time no matter what I enter. (-18000 seconds for eastern time) It says system restarting. The Odle reports system rebooting and stays there unless I reboot by unplugging. . Still will not update the software version. So I can gather data with Blynk as long as I do not use the Switch Doc Page. So if you could tell what I am doing wrong I would appreciate it. Thanks, Pete

Pete, Good information. This is really strange. Our REST system (which OurWeatherPage is built on) is working fine. Can you try: your IP is in a browser when it seems to be locked from OurWeatherPage? Which version of software are you running? I see you are running the ESP32 version. BP

I have tried the rest commands as directed in the Advanced users manual. The only ones that work are FullDataString and resetWiFiAccessPoint however it goes to 192.168.4.1 not 192.168.1.4 and as usual i set the ssid and password and it goes to 192.168.0.184 on my router. The build direction say that a screen appears to set things like elevation etc but that has never happened. Can I sed the board back for you to test? I wanted to use this with my grand children (aways build first as these problems woud frustrate them if I left it with them)

Pete,
Yes, you can. I'm not sure what is going on here. When it is in AP mode, it should go to 192.168.4.1 and you can connect to it then through a browser. The above looks perfect.
So, pop it off to me at and I'll turn it right around. I get back in the office on the 27th.
