I'm new to both the SkyWeather system and installing any weather station, for that matter. It seemed first things first is to decide where to install the system. Up to now, I've just thought putting it on the roof, attached to the chimney (which is in good shape, and also currently has an old TV antenna connected to it via strong metal straps) might be the way to go. I would probably replacing the TV antenna with the SkyWeather system. Pros: camera would have a good view of the sky; I already have RJ45 practically up to the attic; it would be away from the many trees in our yard. Cons: lightning strikes; harder to maintain if something breaks; perhaps not so visually fitting with the rather old look of the house (1942) or the neighborhood.
I'm trying to consider some alternatives. And, quite frankly, I should have started the whole project with an optimal place in mind from the science standpoint, but here I am. It will probably be a few weeks before I can gather all the pieces for the kit, and for the main shipment to arrive, so I have a bit of time. I searched for "placement" in this forum and the docs, and also online. Does anyone have any pointers or advice for me beyond what I found in wunderground and ambientweather installation instructions? In particular, if I mount it out in the yard, is the best way using a tripod, as in something like this? As far as transmitting from the station to the house wirelessly, would that be using something like LoRa?
Thanks for any advice!
PS: Not sure links are working on this forum. Here are the ones I intended above:

ambientweather: www.ambientweather.com/eaofin.html
