Yes, definitely.
We need to document this better.
You can use the Blynk app to change from english to metric
Or:
Edit the /home/pi/SDL_Pi_SkyWeather/state/EnglishMetric.txt file
Or create it if it isn't there.
Put a "0" in the file for English and a "1" for metric

Are there any log files created and if so, where would be located?
Storm last night and I'm wondering about the number of lightning strikes, if they recorded. For some reason it when off line sometime over night.

If you have MySQL enabled, the log information is all in there for all lightning strikes. Download and install phpmyadmin

Does not work. I have changed the value to a 1 in the file SDL_Pi_SkyWeather/state/EnglishMetric.txt (a it was set to a 0) Even done a reboot and confirmed the value is still a 1 Run SkyWeather.py 0 and its updating skyweather.weatherstem.com
But it still shows Fahrenheit and not Celsius !!! Which is damn annoying.
Not sure why it is supposed to be configured this way - certainly can not find it documented anywhere - and all other configurations were done via the config file...
The only reference to EnglishMetric I have found so far is in state.py It does not read the file - it hard codes the value to a 0
# status Values
Last_Event = "My Last Event" EnglishMetric = 0
And updateBlynk.py reads the file....
So why bother having the file, or changing the value in the file...
And I am confused - as the original poster is asking about the web interface on WeatherStem to show things in Metric, but you are starting to discuss Blynk… So is this value used for Blynk or WeatherStem?
Things seemed crossed over - I need to use Blynk in order for the file to be read, so the parameter can correctly be set for a different module to work ?
Yet I can tell the system in the config file I want to use Weatherstem, but not to use blynk….. and I then don't get the full functionality of weatherstem ?
So I didn't really want to use Blynk - but now I need to so I can have weatherstem work properly for me?

Seems like a reasonable request. I'll take a look at the code later today and see what is going on.
Would you clarify where you are still seeing english units? I'm confused when you say "it still shows".
Thanks

I have set the metric flag to 1. If I go to my site at skyweather.weatherstem.com/malmsburyIt still shows everything in Fahrenheit and Inches. The Large key details is showing 55F The Side panel shows altitude in m, which it always has, but Pressure is imperial, not metric, lighting is in km, inside temperature is in Fahrenheit, outside temperate is in Fahrenheit, Rain in last hour and accumulated rain is in inches and wind is still show mph ad not km

WeatherSTEM does not read the SkyWeather preferences on English Metric. This is a bug that we will have to fix. WeatherSTEM preferences should be driven by the SkyWeather system and then can be overridden on the WeatherSTEM site. If you go to WeatherSTEM dashboard first, you will see the C or F button. But if you go to the direct station link, it isn't there. The latter has been reported to WeatherSTEM. We are meeting on these issues on Friday at WeathreSTEM.

Hope this gets fixed.
In the meantime I'm turning off WeatherStem. Currently a useless drain of bandwidth.
fahrenheit LOL

Phate,
It's been accepted as a bug on WeatherSTEM and will get fixed! Let's not be so negative! Fahrenheit is harder to spell than celsius.

Hope this gets fixed. In the meantime I'm turning off WeatherStem. Currently a useless drain of bandwidth. fahrenheit LOL I agree... There are some things I like about WeatherStem, and others I don't like. It appears you can send any variable name for it to store and use in its display.... the interface is concise and interesting... but Fahrenheit only is a pain.... I am sure someone also would like Kelvin.... but Celsius is a necessity. I tried the trick of going to the dashboard, using the map - turning Celsius on, and it still shows things in Fahrenheit... I also in my hacking in wanting to reduce bandwidth, modified the routine that updates WeatherStem, to not send pictures at night time - they are just black and a waste of bandwidth... but alas - while it works, weatherstem does not look as pretty... as the data element is null - it goes to a white screen... was hoping it would just stay with the last picture loaded.... (I had calculated sunrise / sunset each day - and if it tried to update weatherstem I didn't want to send the picture at night - it worked, but weatherstem did not act the way I thought it might... Yes I could send a black picture of 1 or 2 pixels to fool it all - but not worth the effort in the end). Oh well... Im still going to use weatherstem for the moment - despite its failings, its the only place that accepts images at present. While I prefer Weather Underground, their new owners have let it fall apart, and ftp for images has not worked for months.... I am going to do the weewx interface soon... but that so I can have a dashboard of both my weather stations updating on one display panel.... when I get time.

Wow mate.... your way ahead of me and topher2880Weewx is exactly what topher2880 is after. I just want the history. I've been trying to build it using grafana. It will work. but take time. Weewx while sounds doable. It will still need a lot of work to add the extra sensors. be great if we can all get onto the same idea and help each other out.

WeeWx is totally what I want. Im using it for another station (same location) but was hoping to switch it over to my SDL station once I get it worked out.
To send the data to WU and then parse it back is a pain, and WU isnt accepting all of my data as yet. I just dont have the time to sit down and work out all of the params and get WeeWx working yet.
