G'day!
Is there a tutorial or instructions for assembling and using the Thunder Board Arduino? I've received it after back it on Kickstarter but there's no instructions!
I haven't built anything from SwitchDoc Labs before so I don't know where to start!
Thanks!

We will put something out there shortly. It's pretty easy. We should have gotten that out there before we shipped the kickstarter.

I guess its probably obvious. But...
I need to program the arduino yeah? wasn't preprogrammed.
I download the arduino software to the mac. And opened the project from the SDL folder.
Pretty sure I selected the correct processor.
It fails in the verify stage. error like i2c.h missing
Should I try just uploading the file.
However I do that. lol. Thats the next step to work out lol

Hey, let me take a look at that. John said he was going to write a tutorial, but I don't think that he has done that yet.
Did you follow the README.md file?

Hmmmmmmm I'll have to check if I found a readme file....
Don't remember finding one tho.... Except a quick note about copying some time folder somewhere.
Searched for hours even just to find a pic of how everything should be connected lol

Here is the information! John came through today. Bad John. Just kidding. He's my boss. From the Readme on: github.com/switchdoclabs/SDL_Arduino_ThunderBoard_IOTThe Readme: SwitchDoc Labs Thunder Board IOT November 2017
All documentation for this board is on the SwitchDoc Labs site.
Version 004ARD - Initial Release - December 1, 2017 Version 004ARD - Added JSON for Freeboard dashboard Release - December 2, 2017
Installation
Copy WiFiEsp.zip over to your libraries directory under your Arduino directory and unzip
If you are missing the "TimeLib.h" library, copy Time.zip into the Arduino libraries directory and unzip The wiring list: ArduinoIOTWiringList.pdf (34.39 KB) The picture is attached: Attachments:

Ok. So some progress..... For those that have never programmed an Arduino before... On my mac: (Steps could be specific to me and my setup) 1. Downloaded Arduino software 2. Downloaded the SDL Arduino Folder from SDL's Github 3. Remove master from the name of the GitHub folder or it wouldn't load the project (SDL_Arduino_ThunderBoard_IOT) 4. Downloaded the Arduino Master? whatever that is from here.... github.com/ninjablocks/arduino5. Unzipped the TimeLib and WifiEsp into the Arduino software created folder. (/Documents/Arduino/libraries) 6. Copied the I2C folder from step 4 into the same Arduino Library folder as step 5 (if I didn't do this when I clicked verify it failed. Error about missing i2c.h ?) 7. Set the Arduino Software to: A: Board: Arduino Pro or Pro Mini B: Processor: ATmega328P (5v, 16MHz) 8: Upload to Arduino I have no idea what the I2c stuff is about. Never having programmed an Arduino. It feels like I should have some sort of master library that I'm missing. The thunderboard boots up... And "seems" to function. I have the lightning simulator too. When the thunderboard first boots up I am able to trigger the thunderboard by the simulator. But after a minute or so I cannot trigger it again. Not sure if the thunderboard is not functioning correctly or the simulator. Waiting for a storm to test lol Progress at least :-)

You have made GREAT progress. Looks like they have changed the way libraries are hooked into Arduino's again. They should leave it alone in the IDE.
Take a look at the Thunderboard when it won't trigger again. Is the light on?
Looking at the Serial console in the Arduino IDE, is the software still running?

This......... (Looking at the Serial console in the Arduino IDE)
Sounds like I can watch the software when connected to the computer?
Kewl I'll try and check it out.
Sorry. Never had anything to do with the arduino.
Thats why I didn't get the Pi version.... gotta learn the arduino eventually.
I didn't think to try running it from the serial when connected. I was disconnecting and running via the other power input.
Haven't had a chance to get back to it.... but I will.... especially during the next storm.... lol

Hi, just received the arduino kit version (May 2018), and the system work correctly in stand alone mode. The buzzer work correctly, and lightning correctly detected (5km, 31 KM, ...). So usefull
Now, I'm looking for a documentation about WiFi installation procedure and how to use it. Looking for the Raspberry Pi tutorial version, but quit different.
How to solve this little inconvenient ? Any idea ?
Second question : what is the "N" who appear on LCD screen instead of the smiley ?
Thanks a lot.

It's pretty straight forward. For you to load the WiFi, you will need to be able to compile the code. After you install the Arduino IDE, select the Arduino Mini Pro or Min 5V 16MHz.
// User Configuration
char ssid[] = ""; // your network SSID (name) char pass[] = ""; // your network password
bool WiFiPresent = false;
Change the ssid above to your access point and the pass to your password for your access point.

Thanks a lot. It's clear reading informations. Now I'll try and keep you informed.
And what about a complete doc of this wonderfull kit with arduino ?
The tutorial is for the moment only for Raspberry Pi.
Thanks a lot for all your products. I dream as a child making and using them.
