No, when printing there is a setting for how many top and bottom layers. Because of the fact you can see the infill easily and there was a few places were the extrusion was not 100%. I would have had printed one more layer on top. no big thing and they will be just fine. I am just a perfectionist when it comes to 3d printing. I have a fleet of planes I have printed and a few boats.

PETG is a good choice for the outdoors. It is less likely to "melt" in the hot sun as the requires a hotter temp to extrude. It also will flex before breaking where PLA will just explode when they get to the breaking point.

Found some prototype board to solder the zeners to. I looped some of the wires back through the board to connect the separate islands.

The major work is done by now. I had a new lightning probe pylon printed, because the first one was a but brittle and broke loose. The new one is much better. There are still some minor problems being worked on at SDL ( I hope ) And yesterday I got spammed with messages of lightning strikes. A quick look at the Blitzortung app and to my joy I could match the notifications with actual strikes detected by that network.

Peter,
Please do the following:
1) Write up your project and we will publish it as a blog for everyone!
2) Write a separate article on your Lightning Detector and your experience with Blitzortung
It would be great to share this everywhere! You are doing cool work.

Peter,
Word is fine. But don't embed the pictures. Refer to them as Figure #1, #2 etc.

Thanks to brakows thread @ forum.switchdoc.com/thread/723/brakows-grove-weather-pi-build I found the great design for the mica window and the uv sensor mount. I have a colleague that has a 3D printer who offered to print stuff if I needed more. I mailed him the link and the question if he was still willing to do so... A couple of hours later he sent me a photo of the printed thing I can pick it up tuesday when I am at his location.

While on the other front people are desperately trying to get the bugs out of the AM2315 driver thing, my station is now flat-lining most of the time. At least outside temp and pressure. In the mean time, I got some additional solar panels locally and framed them this afternoon. The parts seperate: The parts combined: When I get this wired up with the rest, hopefully the little sun we get here, will be able to keep the battery charged.
