I just realized the Pi I had lined up for this project is a 3b not a 3b+ will there be limitations if I use it or it isn't recommended at all? If I have to get another one it isn't an issue but I wanted to ask before spending the money. thank you

It **should** work. Give it a try. We haven't tested that old of a Pi, but it works for the PiZero so there is hope.

I gave up on the Zero. It worked but hung up if you tried to do anything else.
Right now I'm use RPi4 but having space issues for the USB C power plug. Can't mount board mustless get plug it or unplug it. Major cable strain. You also can't turn off LED and I'm getting some pink tinting of photos.
Was thinking about putting camera in a tube or getting one of those globe mounts. It would be neat to be able to take star photos at night. I was thinking about a Banana Pi more power on a smaller form.

Try the following settings in /boot/config.txt on a RPi4 to see if the LEDs turn off:
# disable LEDs on board dtparam=act_led_trigger=none dtparam=act_led_activelow=none
dtparam=pwr_led_trigger=none dtparam=pwr_led_activelow=none
dtparam=eth_led0=4 dtparam=eth_led1=4
