What brand of SSD Drive are you using? I have used a SanDisk SDCZ33 since RPi introduced SSD boot. One has run like a champ. Last week I got 3 SanDisk Ultra Fit for USB3 speed and 128GB. In less than a week I have had 2 permanently fail. My RPi 4 runs 24/7 at about 39c degrees still in green zone. They do hang occasionally and require a reboot. Normally no more often than Sky is set to reboot, weekly. The USB port end of the RPi 4 does seem to run hot.
Anyway what are you using?
BP, What does SDL use? I know you put adding the fan and watchdog doc on the too be done list. However, It is already 80F outside and before I relocate the Sky2 base outside I need fan and reboot support. I have the parts from Sky1. A brief summary with the key points would be appreciated.
Thanks W

Just for a information point. I'm using a Kingston SA400S37/120GB with good luck. I had been using a Samsung 256GB 840 pro which got corrupted somehow and can't seem to be brought back to life.

Wallace, I'm jumping into adding a fan to SkyWeather2 finally. I've decided on 1" 90 degree CPVC elbows for the intake and output ports. I've ordered appropriate CPVC and ABS compatible glue and some window screen stainless mesh. I've got a fan, and I think all the other parts I need. It will take a couple of weeks to find the time to get it done. I'll glue the wire mesh to the outside of the ports and put the CPAP filters inside the SkyWeather2 box. Once I know if what I doing will work, I'll post some pictures and the procedure.
You know, I haven't even put the box outside once yet, since I've been testing stability after having the network and radio problems. BP had posted what PoE HAT SDLabs prefers to use and I've got one coming. I think after I have the fan and PoE figured out (I've not used PoE before), I'll get the box mounted outside. We are both in NC so we will both be dealing with the humidity and heat this summer. I didn't even want to put the box outside to test without getting active cooling working first. Best wishes, Dow
