I bought the thunderboard and had hoped to use on the weatherplus board but have realised that it Is for the older sensor.
is there a way for the newer thunderboard to connect to the weather plus board?

You bet. We are working on adding the Thunder Board to OurWeather (which is based on the WeatherPlus board). It should be pretty straight forward. We are going to use an I2C device and poll the device for bolts periodically, rather than try to use the Interrupt line. The ESP8266 has so few I/Os.

Hello,
Is there any update on code for the OurWeather to use the thunderboard?

Not yet. But soon. We are working on it next week.

i'm hoping that this will solve my problem also. I have a pi with weather station without the Grover Interface board. I'm using the sunAirPlus board for solar, the Watchtimer timer and associated boards to build a weather station. It's been running for over a year and I'm pleased with everything. I have written my own software based upon early versions of the weatherstation software.
I recently purchased the ThunderBoard - 0240-110317--01 to provide lightening detection. The documentation shows how the I2C and the power connections are made (ThunderBoard Lightning Detector Extender Kit). It does not show any connection between the board and the Pi for an interrupt line. The software I've looked at seems to rely on interrupts. One grove connector (of two) is not connected to anything. I assume that one of the pins of this other connector must connect to the pi for interrupt notification. In summary, how do I connect the ThunderBoard board to the Pi to allow interrupts? Am I missing something? Can I connect the INT pin of the grove connector to a pin on the Pi and use it for interrupts? This has been a fantastic learning experience for me. Help?

Take a look at the Pi drivers: github.com/switchdoclabs/SDL_Pi_ThunderBoard_AS3935You can hook up the interrupt line to the Raspberry Pi. demo.py shows how in Python. We do't do it with WeatherPlus because there really aren't any free GPIOs on the ESP8266. BP

Thanks. I thought that was all I had to do. I've seen the relevant code but just wanted to make sure that was all I had to do hardware wise.
