May sound odd...but I would like to power the Dual Watchdog timer (VDD) with a 5v power supply, and still hook up the dog1/2 inputs to a Raspberry PI 3 GPIO port (3.3v).
Before I do this, I want to confirm that I will not damage the RPI GPIO port in output mode. I can put an opto-isolator between the RPI and the Watchdog timer, but if it not necessary, I would rather not.
Has anyone tried this before?
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't do it. The trouble is the Raspberry Pi wakes up with those GPIO pins not in output mode, but in a floating mode and you may blow the GPIO pins on the Pi.
