Recently purchased the Raspberry pi lightning detector along with the Thunderboard lightning simulator. The only issue I am having is that the far, mid, and close proximity buttons on the lightning simulator are all giving the same results for the lightning detector. It does not seem to be differentiating the distance and displays the same distance value regardless of which button I push. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

MG,
Well as you might realize, this lightning sensor is quite sensitive. And how it responds to the simulator is very dependent on the ambient noise in your environment.
Clearly, to me, it is working correctly.
You might fool with the noise registers and spike counts to see if that makes any difference in your testing.
John is just writing his new video on setting the values on the lightning detector, as it is pretty confusing reading the AS3935 specification.
