Hi All,
After wiring all the GroveWeatherPi hardware, without solar option, I'm trying to install the software on Rapsberry Pi 3 B with 16Go micro SD cards.
Here is the procedure followed as written on SwitchDoc tutorial :
1 - Noobs and Raspbian Stretch is ok, all standard parameters too. I have activated SSH and I2C access. ANd Raspberry Pi 3 B card work properly (I'm so aware about that). Local area WiFi network ok, keyboard and mouse Ok, update OK. Root password changed and enabled too.
2 - MySQL install : sudo apt-get install mysql-server python-mysqldb
A lot of errors messages during the install but seems to be ok. No password requested on MARIADB. I have activated the password on MySQL with a simple process founded on Internet. The Mysql prompt appear correctly : "Mysql >"
3 - Matplotlib install : The Raspberry hang during scipy installation, and if I try to reboot and install python-matplotlib, hang situation too !
At this point all information in order to solve this situation is welcome.
You can notice I'm a "rooky" in software installation and understanding what I install exactly and how to solve hanging situation.
If someone as written a "STEP BY STEP" installation procedure with new software release, it will be nice et very helpfull.
On my side I'm writting a new wiring scheme in order to help newbies (as me few days ago). Pictures from SwitchDoc are a helping hand and a list of wiring too, but the Grove wiring is a good way when you don't want to solder anything, but not very readable on pictures when all cables are connected.
Thanks a lot for a reply,
Rosario

Things change all the time with the software packages, especially with MySQL. check out the other postings on this problem on the Forum. People have solved it.
Good suggestion on Step by Step. We will add that to our list.
We would love to post your new wiring scheme!
Regarding the Matplotlib install, I know what is happening.
It is because the default compilation make is using all 4 cores and the Pi runs out of memory.
Try using the option "-j 1"
Let us know if that helps.

Hi All,
Sorry for a long delay to reply, was so busy with my job.
Unfortunatly, after reinstalling and trying again and again something goes wrong with my RPI3B+.
I'm not a specialist of software install, and if someone has à IMG of everything installed may be it will be so usefull. And very hard to deal with error messages.
I'm looking on the forum for previous posts in order to help me but not really clear for me. Sorry for that.
Strech is correctly install but all become a nightmare with MYSQL, Matplotlib and "consort". If a step by step for a noob like me is available, because I'm stuck with problem, I promise to try to understand. ;-)
Regards

RDS,
We are now looking at supplying SD Card images to people as an option. This is a good suggestion and would cut down the angst involved, for sure.

BP sounds good !
I'm waiting for that with pleasure.
Meanwhile trying to solve my install misunderstanding ...
If you can "coach" me step by step ... But I continue to try by myself. Think is a better way to understand but I have a big shortcoming before that.

RDS,
We have ordered an SD Card duplicator and will get some cards on our site shortly (within the next couple of weeks).
Thank you for the idea!

RDS, We have ordered an SD Card duplicator and will get some cards on our site shortly (within the next couple of weeks). Thank you for the idea! BP Any chance for an image download? Realize things are updating so there would be some discrepancies but it would help along with the more step by step. Like the OP I'm a kickstarter backer and knocking the dust off-enjoying playing with it on vacation and going through the software installs.

We will look at that, but we want to get the cards up first.
Thanks for the idea!

The image download will be more easy to receive than a SD CARD.
I understand the lot of work needed to create a working image of GroveWeather Pi. But for the moment, unfortunaltly my meteo station doesn't work, because my skill level is to poor. I apologize for this situation but ready to improve it ...
On the other hand a step by step tutorial will be welcome. I know BP you have acknoledged our request ... Lol.
Thanks a lot for all your helping hand.
