I have 2 OurWeather boards and would like to do some customization of the software. I have tried on two computers and cannot get either board to be visible as a port (should be Com3). I have other ESP8266 and ESP32 boards and they work just fine. I have the board set as Adafruit Feather HUZZAH ESP8266. I have uninstalled the Arduino IDE and re-installed.
Is there something else that needs to be done to get the board to be recognized on a USB port?

Danv,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows (although I must say, we have some of the same problems on our Macs).
The problem is that your Windows system is having a problem recognizing the FTDI board. You need to figure out what drivers you need to download to make it work.
Question: Your other ESP8266 boards, did you connect them with the FTDI cable?

I hate to sound ignorant but what is a FTDI cable? I've been using a standard usb to micro usb cable for all my connections. Regarding drivers I thought the ones installed with arduino ide were enough. My other esp8266 and esp32 boards work fine.

OK, I have found the FTDI cable. I will purchase one. I have also located FTDI drivers and downloaded them. Hopefully this will get things up and running. I was under the impression that OurWeather board utilized an ESP8266 that was accessed the same way as my other ESP8266 boards using a USB->micro USB cable. Did I miss some documentation somewhere that would have made that clear too a beginner like me?

It should have come with your OurWeather kit.
This version of the WeatherPlus board does not have the USB to serial conversion chip that other board have. It was too expensive when we were designing that board.
In our new ESP32 board (the BC24) we use the USB to serial board and got rid of the FTDI cable.
When we rev the WeatherPlus board, we are going to put that chip on there now that it has dropped so much in price.

I got my FTDI cable, plugged it in and presto! Port was visible and all is great! I guess this one is all about me not knowing that the MicroUSB was the way to connect. I did not see anything about needing to have this cable but I might have missed it somewhere. Thanks for the hint about an FTDI cable.
