I just completed assembly of the Complete Weather Kit using the instructions in "OurWeatherAssembly.pdf". Everything went fine and I verified twice that everything was plugged in correctly and then powered on the system. At first I didn't see anything on the OLED display so I powered down and checked all the plugs and then moved the OLED to another port on the I2C Hub. Still nothing on the OLED but board led's were working so I went ahead and checked to see if the Weather station was available on my cellphone via wifi, and it was, so I connected and then completed the setup there. Another power cycle and I got the OLED Display but only two lines showing, the first showing "... booting" and the second line "Ver 35". It stuck there until I could wait no longer and decided to do a major reset (GPIO0 for 60 seconds). It didn't seem to take the reset so I powered down again and pulled the Real time Clock (E) module from the Weather Plus Board (R) on JP11. Powering up again the OLED display now showed "Our Weather" and then showed logging into my wifi router and then weather information and is basically working great. I can access via the web on my computer and show data on all the connected devices such as wind, wind direction, temperature .... However the date and time is wrong of course.
In experimenting further I pulled the battery from the Real time Clock (E) and powered down the system and plugged it in again. Same result. Only a partial boot. Powering down again, and then pulling the Real time Clock (E) module completely, and powering on, it is working again, of course without a good date and time set.
Suggestions, or is the Real time Clock (E) module defective?
Please advise.
Thanks.
