Repeated with SunControl as requested. Interesting that the same battery was used for this test and it appears to be charging. Was the SunAirPlus not charging it completely?

OK, I am not sure what you want me to do, but let me take a shot at it:
1. plug SunAirPlus and SunControl into AC power 2. leave connections from Sun* board to GroverI2C 3. plug Pi into separate AC power
correct?

I shut it down again, replaced the SunControl board with the SunAirPlus board and rebooted with just the battery:

it is? I pulled the AC and then copied the output

Looks right on both counts. SunAirPlus is not charging the battery at 4.11 V, but they are two different solar controller chips. Take SunAirPlus and disconnect the load and show that. That will help me figure what is going on. BP I did...it is the post right above the SunControl board.

I replaced the SunControl with a new SunAirPlus and after 2 days of 'charging', it reads like this:
SunAirPlus Currents / Voltage ----------------- LIPO_Battery Bus Voltage: 4.10 V LIPO_Battery Shunt Voltage: -0.12 mV LIPO_Battery Load Voltage: 4.10 V LIPO_Battery Current 1: -1.20 mA Battery Power 1: -0.00 W
Solar Cell Bus Voltage 2: 0.78 V Solar Cell Shunt Voltage 2: 0.00 mV Solar Cell Load Voltage 2: 0.78 V Solar Cell Current 2: -0.00 mA Solar Cell Power 2: -0.00 W
Output Bus Voltage 3: 4.96 V Output Shunt Voltage 3: 29.64 mV Output Load Voltage 3: 4.96 V Output Current 3: 296.40 mA Output Power 3: 1.47 W
...so I guess the questions are:
1. Why did the SunControl run from the battery before? 2. Why did the SunControl not charge the battery when AC power was applied (same battery used)?
Thank you.

Very interesting. John would like this board back for testing, so we would like to replace it. We will send you a new one. Please send the board back and we will return a new SunControl board. Send to: SwitchDoc Labs RMA #110118-01 909 S Shelley Lake Lane Spokane Valley, WA 99037 Best, BP I have a SunAirPlus board as well. Should I try that to see if I get the same response?

I've never seen a SunAirPlus board fail this way. Check the battery level by using the pin on SunAirPlus so we can see it under load. BP This is one of the new SunControl boards. The battery measures 3.55V with a multimeter. Also I have used different batteries as well and it doesn't matter. I get the same results.
