You may have a bad temp probe, but probably not. The first thing to look at is the power supply on the unit. Are you getting a lot of noise on the power line? You can try putting a beefier power supply.
Let us know once you have tried that.

I have switched the power supply, will see what happens in the next few days. Thanks, Rich

RDP,
OK, you probably have a bad sensor. When and where did you purchase it?

We are paying a LOT of attention to this problem on OurWeather. We now suspect that we got a bad batch of AM2315s that have a high failure rate on the ESP8266. Not seeing that on the Raspberry Pi or Arduino.

So the temp probe you just sent me I should send back for a different model? Rich

Yep. Science and engineering has finally ground out an answer. The failure rate of the AM2315 is unaceeptable on the OurWeather system. Works fine on Arduino, Raspberry Pi and ESP32 systems. We have some theories on why (after looking at the I2C wave forms which was fun) but there isn't anything we can do about the ESP8266 I2C interface without a LOT of work. forum.switchdoc.com/thread/1033/am2315-exchange-programBP
